KANSAS CITY — The Möcean (pronounced “motion”) brand of energy drinks is steering away from the teenage market, offering adaptogens and caffeine content labeling on the front of products while going for a more adult market.
Tony Vieira, chief executive officer and co-founder of Mōcean, worked in the brewing industry for more than 37 years and helped to build the Blue Moon and White Claw brands. He said many energy drink brands target younger consumers, like males from the ages of 16 to 24, by partnering with MMA fighting events and showing consumers enjoying energy drinks while parachuting.
Möcean products are different.
“We don’t have any outrageous claims on our package,” Vieira said. “We don’t use psychedelic colors or candy flavors.”
Möcean lists 130 mg of caffeine on the front of the bottle, which means consumers may have two bottles a day and stay under 400 mg of caffeine a day, as recommended by the US Food and Drug Administration, Vieira said.
Caffeine comes from organic green tea. Electrolytes and botanicals are in the drink. Shiso, an adaptogen, is anti-inflammatory.
“So I’m Filipino,” Vieira said. “My mother, who has passed, was an uneducated little Filipino witch doctor. When we got sick, she would take out the echinacea, the elderberry, the ginseng, vitamin C, you know, the whole gamut, and as it turns out, those are things that do support immunity.”

“I’m sort of the technical guy,” Tony Vieira said. “He’s kind of an arts and crafts guy.”
Commercial production began in November 2025. Möcean, based in Hyannis, Mass., is available online on Amazon and on the company website.
“Then we’re in a few small mom-and-pop village markets here on the Cape (Cod),” Tony Vieira said. “But we’re beginning conversations with some of the bigger retailers, multi-store retailers, and we believe that that’s all going to happen sort of at the beginning of 2027.” FBN
